Atanu Roy (Hewlett-Packard India) presented a case study on the application of DCOR in the automotive industry today at Supply Chain World Asia Pacific. In his presentation mr. Roy addressed the key challenges companies face when implementing collaborative design processes:

  • Protection of Intellectual Property
  • Retaining design decisions and knowledge
  • Synchronization of (distributed) design information

The project addressed the following (DCOR) key performance indicators:

  • Design Chain Cycle Time
  • Design Change Cycle Time
  • Perfect Product Design
  • Total Design Chain Cost

The outcome included programs to:

  • [Define and] standardize design processes
  • Enable seamless collaboration [integration across organization borders]
  • Project management [planning and coordination]
  • Real-time information [availability and timeliness of information]

I believe this is the only publicly available case study on the application of DCOR. Make sure you download a copy.
