Today, at Supply Chain World Europe, I realized that many SCOR users are not aware of the changes in SCOR 9.0. Most have seen that GreenSCOR has added new processes for waste disposal in the Make process (M1.7, M2.7, M3.8), and added metrics and best practices throughout the model.

The addition that is less visible is the addition of the proposed footprint metrics in section 5, Special Applications of SCOR 9.0. The purpose of section 5 is to allow users to test these proposed metrics and provide feedback.  For completeness,I listed the 5 environmental accounting metrics in SCOR 9.0 below:

  • Carbon Emissions (in Tons CO2 Equivalent) is the proposed metric used to measure green house gas emissions and is a measure of the climate impact from CO2 and other global warming air emissions.
  • Air Pollutant Emissions (Tons or kg) includes the emissions of major air pollutants (COx, NOx, SOx, Volatile Organics (VOC) and Particulate). These are the major emissions that EPA tracks.
  • Liquid Waste Generated (Tons or kg) includes all liquid waste that is either disposed of or released to open water or sewer systems (these emissions are generally listed on water emissions permits).
  • Solid Waste Generated (Tons or kg). The total solid waste generated by the process.
  • % Recycled waste (%) is the percentage of solid and liquid waste that is recycled.

Please consider these metrics if you are interested in environmental accounting and tell us how your experiences, observations and concerns.
